The WOW Pixel Mapping & Animation System
Complete technical write up on GitHub
This kit enables you to create you very own fully customised addressable pixel mapped systems. You don't need any external software aside from the Arduino IDE, your favourite spreadsheet app & the Espressif upload utility.
- Create dynamic real-time animations directly on the micro controller, no need for storing huge animation files or streaming video from other applications
- Create ANY pixel layout you can imagine
- The system is wireless, via ESPNOW, allowing you to have the control module in a separate unconnected location
This Kit comes with 2 x ESP8266 modules. One called the Driver and one called the Controller
The Driver
This is a fully built version of the ESP8266 Addressable LED Driver (that i sell in parts). It comes with a 1.5m USB cable with a power switch and a 4 Pin JST cable for driving most type of pixels. This module will store your pixel map (which you can create and upload as many times and as many different layouts as you like). It then drives whatever pixels and whatever layout you programmed it to. It receives commands from the Controller module(keep reading) and actions them to your LEDs
The Following Pins are broken out & Voltage Level Shifted to 5V to the output Pins:

The Driver only uses TOP LEFT section and has a JST cable soldered on. The other pins are not utilised at present.
The Controller
This module is a naked Wemos D1 Mini (ESP8266) board. This is the module you will upload your animation code to. It talks to the Driver module via the ESPNOW protocol meaning it can be within 50 meters of the driver and still function perfectly
Upon purchase, the modules will be shipped to you via the postal method you choose. You will also get an email with A PRECOMPILED BINARY of the driver system. This is the actual workhorse of the system. Note that the purchase of this kit authorises you to use just this 1 kit. You can not use the binary on any other module as its locked to the physical ESP Chip ID (a unique identifier fuse burned into each ESP8266 module) and the MAC address of the device. This is a way for me to control the resale of this IP.
